Glenmalure Valley in Co. Wicklow is a 20km long glacial valley in the south of the Wicklow Mountains in the beautiful “Garden of Ireland”.
Sitting atop this valley is where you’ll find our Glenmalure Youth Hostel, an intimate cottage type residence waiting to welcome weary travelers.
While our hostel doesn’t have all the mod-cons of other facilities, what it does have is clean fresh water from the nearby river for washing and cooking and is gas-lit only adding to its atmosphere and charm.
This slice of peace, quiet and welcoming is the ideal base for walking and hiking.
Steeped in history, the hostel is located in the area where the 798 Battle of Glenmalure was fought. The renowned playwright J.M Synge owned an estate as did Maud Gone McBride the inspiration of many W.B Yeats’ poems.
