Our An Óige hiking group organises weekly hikes which are open to all An Óige members. Every Sunday, no matter the weather, we hit the trails. We also organise twice monthly Thursday hikes as well as a hike on the second Saturday of every month.
All our walks are organised by dedicated volunteers and are a fundamental aspect of what we at An Óige are about.
Note: To participate in any of our hikes, you must be an An Óige member. You will only be permitted to take part if you have your membership card with you for every hike. To purchase an An Óige membership, CLICK HERE.
Children 15-18 years must be accompanied by a verified parent or guardian. Please be sure to give advance notice for child participants.
All participants must be properly equipped for our hikes, e.g. proper rain gear, trousers, hiking boots, backpack, etc. Jeans and runners are NOT PERMITTED.
There are 3 levels of walks:
Participants must adhere to the Hike Leaders instructions at all times. The Leader sets the pace of the hike and participants are expected to obey their instructions.
Leaders have the right to refuse to take those who do not co-operate with them. They can also refuse to take those they consider would be unable to walk at a reasonable pace, especially at Moderate and Easier Moderate hikes.
Anyone who doesn’t have the proper equipment, e.g. hiking boots, rainwear, backpack, etc or anyone wearing jeans or runners will not be permitted on the hikes.
It is important that walkers who go on Moderate Hikes be fit and able to keep pace with the group. A coordinator has been appointed to organise hikers on Eden Quay each Sunday.
