This Donegal Hostel offers the visitor a chance to get away from it all and relax. The scenery around Trá na Rosann hostel is fantastic and always gets a great response from guests who are full of compliments about their stay!
With stunning views of the coast and Tory Island, and only minutes from the beach, this hostel’s location is magical. Trá na Rosann beach is about a 3 minute walk from the hostel and the peace and quiet of the area make it ideal for walking, swimming and cycling.
Originally a hunting lodge and still a listed building, this hostel is the most northerly hostel in all Ireland! It is located at the northern edge of the Rosguill Peninsula (Melmore Head) in an Irish speaking (Gaeltacht) area so you can brush up on your Irish too!
Trá na Rosann was designed by famous English architect, Sir Edwin Lutyens and it is worth a visit for this alone! Lutyens also designed the Memorial Gardens and many buildings in New Delhi and Capetown. However, this hostel is the only one of his designs you can actually sleep in – legally anyway! He designed the hostel so that it reflected and blended into the landscape by ensuring the building took on the same look as the mountains behind it.
