This month we catch up with Annemarie Lambe who until recently was one of the longest serving staff members in Head Office in the accounts department.
- What three traits define you? Loyalty, Kindness, Determination.
- What is your personal philosophy? I don’t like drama; I need calm in my life.
- What’s one thing you couldn’t live without? Breakfast; I get grumpy if I don’t eat when I get up.
- What is the greatest challenge you have had to overcome in your life thus far? Living so far from home and not having my family close by.
- What is the one thing you cannot resist? Anything chocolate.
- What is your greatest fear? To miss the train and have to walk to work.
- Where is your favourite place to be? Glendalough
- What is your favourite thing to do? Getting a take away on a Saturday night and watching movies with the boys.
- Where is the best place you’ve traveled to and why? Chamonix, a place where you can walk across a glacier and then climb a mountain all in the same day.
- What’s the weirdest job you’ve ever had? I worked for a medical billing company where I had to rip stacks of bills and stuff them.
- What does true leadership mean to you? Taking responsibility for your own actions. Owning your decisions whether good or bad.
- Which one would you want most and why – flying cars, robot housekeepers, or moon cities? Flying cars – Because I hate waiting in traffic.
- What has been the most important innovation you have witnessed in your lifetime? A PC. I remember having to use a word processor to write my essays. It was horrible.
- What is your funniest memory of working in An Óige? My lips are sealed.
- If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be? Builder, I would love to be able to add an extension or do an attic conversion.
- What would you most like to tell yourself at age 13? “Listen to your mother; she knows more than you think” and “save your pennies early”.
- What are your three most overused words/phrases? “Absolutely”, “Knock it off”, “Yah”.
- How do you define success? A home and family.
- What is the best book you have ever read? A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini.
- Tell us something that might surprise us about you. I was on the track team in High School and did shot put. I wasn’t very good.
