Located off the coast of County Mayo, our newest island hostel can be found on Clare Island. This hostel was built in 2012 and is located on the edge of the dramatic sea cliffs surrounded by the Wild Atlantic waters. Along with all the usual hostel facilities, we have a restored traditional Irish bar where you can have the “craic” with music, dancing, food and drink.
Our hostel is ideal for exploring Clare Island, the largest of the hundreds of islands in Clew Bay. It currently has 165 inhabitants but at one time it was home to the Pirate Queen, Granuaile O’ Malley. It boasts two large mountains and plenty of sandy beaches so it is good for hikers and families. Nature-lovers are also attracted by the alpine flora and many birds of prey that nest in the cliffs. Adventure lovers come for the water-sports in the shelter of its waters.
