Cycling Weekend to Cape Clear Hostel May Bank Holiday Weekend

Dates: May 4, 5, 6 & 7 2012

Meet: Friday at 2.00 p.m. at bus stop Wilton shopping centre opposite CUH..


Cycle to Waterfall, Crossbarry, Castlelack, Gurteen, valley route to Dunmanway – Approx 35/40 miles.

Stay in Dunmanway Hotel , have bar food and breakfast in the morning.

Price roughly 45 euros approx.

Saturday cycle from Dunmanway, Drimoleague to the lovely Skibbereen, coffee or lunch in fields , then the final part of the journey 10 miles to Baltimore for 2.00 p.m. ferry to Cape Clear.

Price of ferry = 16.00 euros return

Our home for the next two night is in An Óige Cape Clear Hostel run be Richard and Sinead – who run a fabulous hostel – spotlessly clean.price approx 20.00 euros per night.

Food and drink will be transported to ferry by Fields in Skibbereen.

Lunch for Saturday ,Sunday, gourmet cuisine Saturday and Sunday night – home cooked with wine or soft drinks – breakfast for Sunday and Monday and packed lunch Monday will be provided.

Saturday, Sunday free to explore Cape Clear, go walking , visit goat farm – with blind farmer, Ed Harper very interesting. Go kayaking and visit some caves and see lovely sea foana. Music sessions.

As this is a Gaeltacht area – alan caint as gaeigle.

Monday we get the 10.00 ferry and cycle all the way back to cork about 60 miles approx on lovely quiet back roads less well travelled.

Total cost approx 130.00 euros including kitty for food
