Hike Programme February 2018

 

Please Note: Preference will be given on the “Special Buses” to members of An Óige on production of their membership card.  It is therefore  imperative to bring your membership card with you each Sunday.  Membership Fees are as follows from January 2018: €25.00 for over 25 years old, and €15 for under 25 year olds, Family rate is: €45.00 Membership Cards will be posted out. Please note: From April 3rd 2017, memberships cannot be purchased in Dublin International Hostel. Instead, it will be processed by phone (01 8304555), E-Mail – (info@anoige.ie), or through our online Membership portal. 

 

It is imperative that the instructions of the Hike Leaders be adhered to by those participating. The Leader sets the pace of the hike and walkers are expected to obey his/her instructions at all times.  Leaders have the right to refuse to take anyone who does not co-operate with them fully and anyone who they consider would not be able to walk at a reasonable pace, especially on the Moderate Hikes. Walkers who go on Moderate Hikes should be fit and able to keep up with the hike.  A Co-Ordinator has been appointed each Sunday to organise hikers on Eden Quay.

Sunday, 4th February 2018 – NEWCOMERS HARD HIKE

Donard Forest – Sugarloaf – Lobawn – Corriebracks – Church Mountain – Drumreagh – St. Kevin’s Way – Hollywood Village.

Distance: 19KM. Ascent: 740M.

Meet:               Burgh Quay, @ 9.45am. Second pick up point is at Maldron Hotel on the N81 Tallaght by-pass.

Bring:              Rainwear, Flask, Sandwiches, Simple First Aid Kit, Hat & Gloves, Torch, Reflective Arm Bands.

Wear:              Hiking Boots Only. Jeans not allowed.

N11 Junction 9 – Glen of the Downs – Downshill – Calary Lower – Glencap Commons – Sugarloaf Way – Kilmacanogue.

Historical walk to Clondalkin via Inchicore and The Grand Canal.

Visit to the National Museum, Collins Barracks, to view some of the artefacts collected over the past 20 years.
