Give Us A Break Project
with our Sponsors, Provident Financial
An Óige run the "Give Us a Break" project with thanks to our sponsors, the Provident Financial Group. This project gives a designated amount of sponsorship funding to DEIS primary schools to help them go on a school break to one of our top five hostels. The break includes an overnight stay in a hostel of their choice, full board and activities, for example outdoor adventure activities with EcoAdventure Ireland! Provident Financial have been supplying funding for this programme since 2005 and it has been very well received by students and teachers alike.
We are accepting applications from DEIS primary schools for summer 2013. Please fill out this Application Form and send it back to email@example.com or call Donna directly for more details on 01 8826727. Any unsuccessful applicants will be put on the wait list for 2014!
Please note: To open the application form you might need the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader!
To ensure we reach as many schools as possible, we take on new schools every year so that everyone gets a chance to benefit. It has been hugely successful - just see the pictures and comments below for proof! (Click on photos to expand!)
PLEASE NOTE: Application is only open to registered DEIS primary schools.
“The children in my class would not normally have the opportunity to experience the adventure they had in Knockree. I feel that it gave them an outlet to be themselves. Children who at times are quiet and withdrawn came alive and behaved in a way that I as their teacher for the last 2 years, had not seen. It was really lovely and heartwarming to see them so happy and carefree. I cannot stress enough how good this experience was for these children”
Emma Conroy - Teacher from Our Lady of Consolation School, Donnycarney
“The children are still talking about our trip and I’m sure it will remain in their thoughts for many years to come. …..for many of the children on the trip, this night provided a break away from the burden of minding younger brothers or sisters and gave them a space to develop themselves. I noticed that not one child complained throughout the trip and the bus on the way home was extremely quiet and packed with tired children!”
Sheila Ryan, Teacher from St Catherine’s SGS, Cabra
