Moderate Hike

Route:            The Cooley Mountains. Circuit of Carnawaddy- Distance 16km – Ascent 500m

Meet:              Laughter Lounge, Eden Quay, O’Connell Bridge End @ 10.15 am

Bring:             Rainwear, Flask, Sandwiches, Simple First Aid Kit, Hat & Gloves

Wear:             Hiking Boots only. Jeans not allowed

Transport:     Special Bus. Cost €15. No Commuter Tickets. No Dogs 

N.B: Both the Moderate and Easier Moderate Hikes will use the same bus and please note the different cost


Easier Moderate Hike

Route:           The Cooley Mountains – The Táin Train from Carlingford to Ballymakellet – Distance 11km – Ascent 300m

Bring:              Rainwear, Flask, Sandwiches, Simple First Aid Kit, Hat & Gloves

Wear:              Hiking Boots only. Jeans not allowed.

May Bank Holiday Special Walk with Meal

Route:             From Porchfield to Wellington – A Walk in the Royal County of Meath

Meet:               Liberty Hall @ 10.45am

Bring:              Rainwear, Flask, Sandwiches, Simple First Aid Kit, Change of Footwear

Wear:              Hiking Boots or Strong Shoes.      

Leaders:         Kay & Tony O’Sullivan.

Cost:              €32.00 (Includes transport by Special Bus and Evening Meal). Must be booked and paid for in full, in advance to the An Óige Head Office – Tel (01) 8826700. Payment by credit/laser card acceptable. No refunds.

N.B. This will replace the easier hike

JB Malone Memorial Walks - 20 Year Anniversary 

These walks were first run by An Óige in 1992 to commemorate the founder of the Wicklow Way – JB Malone

The Routes this year are as follows:
Moderate Hike: The Wicklow Way from the Pier Gates to Knockree International Youth Hostel via Djouce and Maulin
Leader: Ruth Murphy
Easier Moderate Hike: The Wicklow Way from Djouce Woods to Knockree International Youth Hostel via Maulin
Leader: Ann Prendergast  
Easier Hike: The Wicklow Way from Curtlestown Wood to Knockree International Youth Hostel via Knockree Hill and Lackendarragh
Leader: Marie McDonnell
TRANSPORT: Buses will depart from the Laughter Lounge , Eden Quay @ 10.15am or when full. Bus fare €12
