Cycling on the winding, quiet roads is very popular in this area with many groups taking cycling holidays. Recommended routes include the three loops out of Clifden to the west coast's most attractive villages: Ballyconneely, Cleggan and Roundstone.

Rent a bike and check out Gleninchaquin Park in Kenmare, Bantry House and Gardens, Adrigole Arts to see fine arts and crafts and Allihies Copper Mine Museum.


Glendaloch International

With Wicklow’s diverse landscape there’s a varied range of routes, ideal for both the novice and experienced cyclist – though the best views are higher up! Bikes can be hired from the hostel. Guides can be provided for groups of 4+ on request.

 

Killarney International

Ask at the hostel – variety of bikes available – this is terrific country to go cycling in and if you prefer two wheels to two legs (or four legs!), cycling around and through the Gap of Dunloe is also an experience to be enjoyed!


Knockree

The Wicklow Way makes for a beautiful scenic cycle and you can go trail-biking at Cloon Wood which has mountain bike trails in variety of difficulty levels. Bicycles are available to rent from the hostel for the day. Just ask at reception!   

 

Mountain Lodge - closed for 2012

Ballyhoura Mountain Bike Trails is the largest trail network in Ireland with 98 km of trails including forest road climbs, tight twisty single track with loads of ups and downs, board walk, tight turns and technical rocky bits! The trails range from the moderate 6 km Greenwoodloop to the demanding Castlepook loop, over 50 km in length – a challenge for the most avid mountain bikers!

 

Newgrange Lodge

Free Bike hire is provided at the lodge. The Lodge is happy to provide a map outlining a number of cycling trails around the county that take in many of the historic attractions en route as you cycle around the lush, country scenery of Meath.
